Broomfield, Colorado
Serving the 17th Judicial District and Broomfield County, this combined courts facility was in need of significant remodeling to accommodate the increased case loads facing these jurisdictional areas. One of the primary goals was to incorporate a new district courtroom. This involved remodeling the Probation Office (which had moved to another facility) to accommodate the DA’s Office which was relocated to make way for the new courtroom (left, top). Accompanying this new courtroom is a new jury deliberation room and new holding cell.
Secondarily, an existing traffic court was completely remodeled to provide for a new, smaller, 6-seat jury courtroom (left, second from top). Finish elements were borrowed from the district courts to visually unify all of the spaces.
Finally, there was significant remodeling to the support areas including the addition of a new judge’s’ chamber along with the remodeling of other judges’ offices; modification to the clerks’ office areas; the addition of a new jury deliberation room; and adjustments to various other miscellaneous spaces.
